Mother

You held me safe in your arms since the day I was born and really never put me down. I felt safe as you'd rock back and forth humming sweet lullabies until sleep came to me sound. You mended scrapped knees, broken hearts and scared off monsters from beneath my bed. You sweetly pressed your lips to my cheeks when I would cry and away went the pain. You made me smile again by promising the rainbows that came after the rain. You were strong, yet vulnerable to my tears. You were stern, yet caring for my every need. You were hopeful for me as I went on with my life, yet you never looked away. You were the very definition of mother. Loving, with open arms. And through all I have learned from you I promise to do the same for my family. You were the twigs that made my nest and the strength that held my fears at bay. You were the inspiration that filled my dreams. So shall I be for mine. To make you proud. Now as the seasons come and go you'll be forever present in my thoughts. In the summer you'll be the sound of children playing and the cool breeze upon my cheeks during warm nights. In the fall you'll be the sight of the moon as it lights up the autumn sky. In the winter you'll be the sun as it warms my face and the glistening of fresh fallen snow. In the spring you'll be the sound of birds revealing their songs and the new found seedlings that made their way through the earth. And so shall I be for mine. Love you....Mother
