Oh ... The flesh and families That bullets rend ... Much deeper wounds To souls, don't mend. How can we hope To end the strife ... If monsters spurn The worth of life? How do we solve A madness sown ... When evil's face Is like our own? How can our kids Thus reconcile When closet beasts Now wear a smile? Thus once again we quell their fears, And wash the blood With senseless tears.

This is very well done Gregory. It expresses the essence of what happened and all the blood has been washed the same way, with tears.

Thank you so very much, Janis, this one is very special and important to me, especially since I learned that one of the people killed is the wife of an old friend ... these horrible things reach very far, but they also bring out the best of humanity, and in the long run serve to bring us together as ONE race - the HUMAN race. Blessings and love to you, dear friend. <3

Moving and powerful piece, Greg, especially the penultimate stanza. Unfortunately these events seem to be happening more and more often... such tragic loss of life :( Regards, John.

Thank you so much, my friend, I am pleased that you liked my poem! And I am quite sure you're correct, as I doubt we have seen the last, sadly. Blessings, John ... we shall hope and pray otherwise. <3

Face is like ours, so true, i saw an interview of the shooters brother and he said, he was just another unremarkable guy, no noticeable problems, he still cannot believe it. The reporter asked him, and so how does it make you feel...he said I was told my brother just killed over 50 people, what do you want me to say? One more crazy day, in this crazy world, you said it well Greg, too bad tomorrow will probably be another tragedy and another fine poem!

He said his brother lived an "unremarkable" life ... until now, sadly. Horrific stuff, my friend, and I'd be VERY happy to NEVER have another such deadly and depressing "muse" ... I'm so weary of hate.

Your words reflect well this senseless helpless chaos. So incredibly sad. I didn't have the radio on at all, I had no idea till I opened your poem. I'm so sorry. Hugs.

It's terrible what happened in Las Vegas, I am greatly saddened by what transpired there, all those killed and injured! I feel for all of them and their families! The terror was written by a crazy man, one who wants terror to reign in the hearts of all! It's so horrid that this happened! But you poem about this event is superior my friend! I am amazed by your tremendous skill at writing this illustrious piece this morning! Great Work!!

I'm so pleased you were touched by my poem, my friend, but so sorry for this horror that inspired it. My heart is so heavy when these things happen, and they just get worse, it seems ... humanity has caught some sort of horrific, evil virus that can't be seen or prevented. Thanks again, Buddy. I pray there will be no more such horrors to write about.
