More Quick Graveyard Poetry

Another one inspired by the graveyard which stayed on the roadside after the church and residential streets demolished. A few graves of wealthy men but the rest covered over. The area once wealthy city centre becoming slums and hundreds of poor people buried there also. Strange old graveyard with new headstones Just an old graveyard with old bones Slum housing cleared, left no traces Covered unmarked graves of forgotten faces Echoes of voices from rich and from poor Who kneeled dutifully on the holy floor Offering up prayer week after week Whether lives were luxurious or bleak All of them gone, but some stories remain Of how the rich stayed rich and the poor died in vain
