I have a friend I rarely ever see I can't remember when I saw him last It's funny, but he looks a lot like me Regardless of how many years have passed I do recall one morning years ago I woke and went outside before the dawn The sleepy moon was hanging full and low When he appeared beside me on my lawn And just like that, I was a child again The mystic moon had cast it's magic spell I leaped and danced with my moon shadow friend Until he disappeared with no farewell The sun came out to start another day But in his haste, he chased my friend away Daniel Turner

A sweet sonnet that flows well with rhyme... Admiring the night sky and moon gives the greatest inspiration for any poet to write... God bless... ~ Ani

Great. Read it through several more times. Feels too familiar for words to express. Tim

Thank you Jan. I hope it is not the coronavirus. If you have had a sore throat, then you are ok. They say with the coronavirus one does not have a sore throat. Get well soon and yes I understand about Lin. She will be missed.

I like it better than Cat Steven's moon shadow song. Get a chorus and you've got yourself a tear jerker here; sorta Neil Diamonds' Shiloh meets Moon Shadow Friend so here's your kleenex. You are such an excellent writer, Dan. I've always enjoyed and learned reading you. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

NOT patronizing; I give you sincerity, in all things I try to be authentic so sorry, dude - you've got talent - not the network kind because a writer would probably bore the audience ... oh, how I ramble!

Witty and whimsical, Daniel; a delight to read. I'm too much of a night owl to ever get up before the dawn, so I'm afraid my moon shadow friend will have to greet me at night! ~ John

- Back in time ... the moon never changes its beauty ... the big differences are the experience as a child and an adult ... we have different expectations than before - Live magically in the moonlight, Daniel :) - A beautiful poem :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)
