Monopoly Monotony

As a child I was “board” with Monopoly Games dragged on endlessly, such monotony Now I’ve noticed a fearsome monstrosity Special interests creating atrocity PACs are strangling the sentiments of Congress Bailouts for bigwigs while people are jobless To win votes, we hear many a false promise After elected, leaders become pompous Get out of jail free cards are passed readily Eagerly sought by those who lie steadily We try to make sense of this inequity But “players” are laughing at our density Yet I know monopolies when I see them And all of this control I’m quick to condemn

Sweet, your poetry rocks. It delighted me. However, I like monopoly, but I am not disagreeing with you. Keep up the good work.

I'm thinking of Obama's mortgage relief program. Relief starts at $80,000 house value. Who the hell does this benefit - probably 25% of the population. If you know better. Carolyn, please let me know. Thanks for keeping our eyes open wider. Love, daver

yes loved this one, and Monopoly and politicians go hand in hand, you can't trust what the game will do to you at the end nor what the politicians will do next to pull this great nation down even more. thank for commenting on thin air.

Herman Caine--not sure if a Palin endorsement is a good or bad thing for him-- he is a true patriot with a nonWashington flavor! Check him out...I am not a dem or repub...just a concerned American now. Thanks for checkin him out! Gwendolen

Nice twist on Monopoly-this is the first political spin on the poetry contest I've read....loving politics the way I do, this a sweet one for me! I see these Get-out of jail Free cards on the nightly news regularly and I pray we are not too late to save our democracy. What do u think about the fresh face Herman Cain? Enjoyed, Gwendolen

Tried searching for Herman Cain, but didn't get a hit on this site. Is he a new member of Poetry Soup?

VERY NICE! I wrote a few angry poems about Alan Greenspan a few weeks back. I am debating whether to dump them into this soup! I don't want to ruin the taste:) Your piece is nice! another 6.90 rounded up to a 7. ---teasin' this one needs no rounding up. I hate boring BOARD games sometimes too! ~Joey
