Missdirections

Applies her makeup
Grabs that glam getup
May put on odd airs
Acts as if she cares
Giggles to lowbrows
Wiggles with highbrows
Goes downtown dancing
Dips downright dazzling
So no big to-do
For this ingenue

Great rhythmic movement - like great dance music! Your rhyme scheme really flows. Love your "ingenue" reference. This is just plain delightful and so much fun. All the best!

Sam, I assume we both lament the decline of the ingenue. It's like the loss of innocence in America, the loss of it in all of us. Your sensitivity and your voice is reassuring and helpful. Thank you for your kindness.

I like how fast this breezed along, I felt like this poem was singing and dancing.

Caren, so kind of you to visit. Your poetic sensibility is most appreciated. To hear you breezed along validates part of my intent confirming that the couplets keep the reader positively moving to the final line. Thanks ever so for your comments. Be well.

Dear Greg, this little Missy appreciates her fun adventures! I love the light-hearted spirit of this breezy poem. I especially love the playful rhyme pair; Giggles and Wiggles, that captures the ingenue's joie de vie perfectly. A bright delicate poetic gem. Warmest wishes my dear friend.. ~Susan

Susan, I lament the decline of the ingenue. Innocence lost. As well, I empathize with women who battle objectification. Giving it a light touch, yet a spotlight, was the goal of this little piece. I so appreciate your take on this because I feared it might go the wrong way. Your comments weigh heavily. Thank you.
