Mirrors Lie
Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Can you truly tell me the fairest of them all?
Mirror, mirror vanity's god,
Why is it all you bring is tears upon this sod?
A beauty queen looked at you,
And you whispered nobody could compare to her.
Then one day she woke and all she saw,
Was a lady wrinkled from head to toe.
She picked up a comb and threw it to your face,
Tearing your visage to glittering dust.
She may have passed but you lived on,
And no date shall arrive for your demise.
Can you tell a beauty from a beast from the reflection on the glass?
Beautiful illusions never see the endless days.
Dear Narcissus tasted of the wine of reflection,
And all that became of him was another of the earth's flowers.
Mirrors lie, mirrors lie,
If only you could feel how it is like to cry!
