Author's Notes: I chose this poetic format to articulate a very high-level brief overview into this magnificent literary masterpiece by Professor Erich Auerbach. A true classic it is, in every respect. I will leave it up to the reader to venture into Auerbach's quintessential classic known as "Mimesis," which concerns his erudite representation of reality in Western literature. Reading his work and trying to fully understand everything he writes about is an intellectual treat in and of itself, but one replete with complexity, fascination, and true enlightenment.
