Midnight Thoughts

When your blue eyes Looked at my brown eyes, Like the sky came to kiss the earth With honour during the morning dew on the snowdrops. It makes me want to wish I were your perfume, So you could inhale me every time you took a breath, I'd be going deep into your heart and bones making you smile, I'd be touching and clinging to your warm and tender skin, slather slowly, growing deeper and deeper, I'd be prolonged, so even the next day you'd be able to feel me around you, Lilies, vanilla and cardamom, A little bit of whiskey and a little rum. I envy death, I do, I envy death who'll get to kiss your face Beautiful than a summer's day When the trees are dancing to a music Privy, the breeze is just bluffing to cool you And the sun is soaring like a brook during springtime. I'll miss you forever, But how lucky I am, Oh how lucky! Death will kiss me with the same lips she'll kiss you. Oh how I love you, But I still can't tell if I'm in love, I love you like death loves human beings, Oh how it yearns, and waits to kiss you when the time comes. Only death's love is true, Death never breaks promises, She comes when she comes, And she will come for sure. She loves you even when you don't love her back. Yes, it's true when you said “Your smile is going to be the death of me” With your lips grinned like thousands of ruby roses.

Dearest Anne, I feel like I just stumbled into your midnight reverie and suddenly got swept up in all the raw, messy longing of loving someone too much to name. Anne, you go straight for the heart and just crack it wide open. I love how you twist love and mortality together. Even when you’re lost in all this wanting, you’re holding tight to yes, Anne’s magic, turning the hardest feelings into lines that just linger. Ahhhh, Death a human lingering. Loved Reading, Blessings, Dear Anne, Daniel

Very descriptive and expressive work you have penned. Yes, death comes to us all unless we happen to be the ones caught up in the rapture and we just might be. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Sara K

I can relate to your poem on death. Times when I wished for its kiss. Maybe I'll be surrounded with snowdrops, though I prefer cinnamon. A very intelligent meditation, dear Anne.

Oh, this is absolutely sweet like the essence of all fragrances bottled together. Your words are passionate and resonant with deep emotions of love. Your comparison of love to death may sound odd at first. But your clarification that you will continue to love even when you don't get it back makes your analogy so apt. Nobody likes death, but death will come to woo us. Very intoxicating lines, dear Anne.

An impressive, wild ride of intoxicating imagery and sensation. Riveting. Absolutely riveting, Anne. Also, my first clue that you may be English, "honour" vs. honor. Loved this. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Powerful poetry Anne with a mix of passion, romance and the inevitability we all must face, though interesting how you romanticized even death itself. Kudos
