Midnight Murmurs
Midnight Frolics
The afternoon slow slips away, soon the warmth of sunlight’s smile,
Long upon the forest face, gives way to icy shadow fingers –
Creeping dark’s dominion settles where bright day once stood a while.
In place of light darkness welcomes in the starry moonlight dance
When creations of the daystar wake from burrows and from dens -
A thousand eyes reflect bright sparks of eerie fading daylight fire trances.
Like breath released life arises, in the forest heart stillness glides
As silent shades where leafless sentinels shiver in outlines of ominous -
Disguised in darkness the vital spark of daylight murmurs and abides.
Midnight frolics, woodland antics, in hunter's stealth and owl hoots,
Stretching out beneath a secret eye captivated by the lingering gloom -
To ponder of the unknown star stretching up in dawn’s salute.
