Mice and Stars
MICE AND STARS
Used to be a nocturnal kind of guy and all that:
Out after dark looking for cheese and scraps
And pieces of bread and potato perhaps -
Watching out for the neighbour’s infernal cat,
Till Joe said hey Mick take a look up there -
Looks like a zillion cats in the night skies
Looking down at us with all those staring eyes -
Man that was enough to give us both a scare.
Me and Joe still scamper round the park;
But only daytime rodent-activity for us.
No longer the focus of any skyborne puss,
We simply never go out after dark.
