Delusion to illumination


Drosophila melanogaster 
Trapped in water bottle prepared by cutting off the top ¼ 
Turn it upside down into the bottom ¾ of bottle 
After adding some ripe bananas, add a little water 
Sit them around the house in some nice comfort zones 
Watch a drosophila melanogaster go in, then be trapped 
Can’t figure how to get out, well, there is food and water 
Then another drosophila flies downward now two trapped
Companionship!! Yeah!! 
Sex happens, food, and water, but still trapped
Eggs laid, soon many maggots crawl 
How like human conditions sometimes the situation looks like a good deal 
Trapped 
Nothing takes the place of freedom 
Freedom!! Freedom!! 
That trait God placed within all of us 
Freedom!! Freedom!!  
What do we do with what we are given? 
Well, that is entirely up to you

Fruit flies get trapped in bottles when there is some remnant of a fruit. There they breed and multiply. But if the opening is closed, there is no way for them to come out and they get suffocated without freedom. For every living thing freedom is a must. Dear Sara, your poem is very powerful way of expressing the need for freedom.

Thank you, Valsa. Oh, they don't suffocate because there is the tiny hole at the bottom of the upside-down top stuck in there, but they can't figure out how to get out. There will be so many of them in there. I will throw it away when the maggots start to be seen. Sara K

Great way to convey freedom. We can join the others in their fodder or live up to the expectations of what real freedom is. Let freedom ring.

Yes, as it is said, Nette. There is not freedom without responsibility. I remember what my daughter said about how she thought when she got on her own how she would stay out as late as she wanted, do what she wanted, etc., but she found out right quick it doesn't work that way. LOL..Sara K
