Messiah Season

So tell me, how are you, my friend, she said I hesitate, reluctant to speak true For if I tell the truth what can she do It's easier to smile and lie instead Than say what's going on inside my head It's just the same old **** and nothing new I try to concentrate my mind as you Enthuse about the latest book you read Above our heads the shadow of a bird Hell bent on heaven dives into the sun Symbolic and miraculous, absurd I’m off on one, or three, or three in one You look at me. I haven't heard a word It seems Messiah season has begun © Gail Foster 12th June 2017

Wow. What a take on the Italian sonnet. I just dig it. True art. Beautifully construed. The second part so completes the first . It's truly fantastic.

Thank you very much, Jannie, praise indeed! I wonder sometimes if it's OK to write sonnets like I do. There's supposed to be a question and then some kind of resolution. I'm not sure I do that. Don't want to go too far off track. Just a bit...

Thank you very much. I've written a sonnet for Solstice, will put it up sometime after sunrise on the longest day. Best wishes to you.
