Memory of 9-11-2001

September morning 2001, the 11th, I recall The Twin Towers in NYC were standing tall And all seemed right with the world Until evil at America was suddenly hurled Planes smashed into World Trade Center Heroic responders bravely tried to enter Another plane ripped into the Pentagon While Flight 93 over Shanksville was gone America irrevocably changed that day As international terrorists had their way I remember driving home through tears That everything I held sacred in trust Was being snatched up in a cloud of dust Now, as I reflect some twenty years after I still angrily hear al Qaeda's laughter And I find it almost impossible to forgive For they have altered the way we live

I do not think we ever thought a terrorist act could affect us. "ll seemed right with the world Until evil at America was suddenly hurled" You nailed it.

Thanks, Caren. That's how I felt back then. Lots of water under the bridge now. I wonder if we'll ever again experience the unity we experienced after the attack.

For my part, I shall never have a drop of mercy for Al Qaeda or any other bloody terror group for the lives they take, for the havoc they wreak. Why should I?! By their creed and their actions, terrorists forfeit any right they might have to my sympathy. Let freedom ring! ~ gw

I agree wholeheartedly. Their carnage was absolutely unforgiveable. Too many of them have been allowed to live to further their evil deeds, in my opinion.

There are no words to describe the horror this has caused. It would be very difficult to forgive and forget such a tragedy. Well put, Milt.

Thanks so much, Shirley. I don't think we will ever forget that day. I can still remember the ache in the pit of my stomach when we were unsure exactly what was happening.

It shocked the world Milton, I remember watching it as it unfolded and just couldn't believe what I was seeing and all those brave first responders who died trying to help the dying and the injured. How a human being could carry out such an evil act against his fellow humans is beyond me. I hope those that perished rest in peace and the evildoers burn in hell. Tom

Tom...I know I would hate to see anyone burn in hell, but if it is warranted the terrorists that did this vile act are certainly qualified. Thanks so much for your response to my poem. I always appreciate you.
