Memories Fade

I hoped by now I would be a pro At hiding my feelings to put on a show But then I see you in the haze I become oblivious and memories fade At night as I sink into my bed Memories of us clutter my head The sun rises and claims the new day No dreams last night just thoughts as I lay I’m off to work on the one forty two But the LA Port reminds me of you It’s impossible to forget you. You’re everywhere As I stare out the window I fight back a tear I wonder what you’re doing, if you’re thinking of me But as I wipe my eyes, I know it can’t be I can’t live another day in this misery Why doesn’t my heart know what my eyes have seen? Everyone keeps saying, “You’ll find another” But that will end the same, so why should I bother Besides that’s no way to live your life You’d cause your heart so much strife There’s only one person who can make it better All I need to know is that he said, “I miss her” I’m holding on with all I have just waiting for a sign Hoping there will come a day I can once again call him mine
