Memories and Regrets

The windows of regret are open now I long to drift out into the quiet night But now to my memories I must bow Holding on to heartaches oh so tight The window is covered in golden thread Which moves in rhythm with the breeze The silken colors mourn my dead And sorrow brings me to my knees Why did you leave this world so soon? Again I taste the salt of silver tears I should have held you 'neath the moon Forever through these countless years To night belong shadows of our past When innocence crowned our heads The day that fate had ruled our last And placed my heart among the dead.......

My poem is not unlike yours, Barbara. Our Cathy fought breast cancer for five years before she passed away in 2004. She left 3 children and her daughter is like me feels her presence as I feel my husbands presence. Now her oldest son and wife are going to present her with her first grandchild. And her youngest son 19 is reporting for duty at the Navel base in San Diego. Her daughter graduated college this year with a teaching degree. She was a loving mother. God Bless, Cile

Anyone who has lost someone at a young age will share the pain expressed so eloquently in this poem, Barbara. I certainly do "taste the salt of silver tears" when I think of my late husband. Beautifully written, dear LNC. Love, Carolyn
