Memories
from that winter in the mountains I have peeled a scrap to seal
in that place behind my pupils, that I keep for things so real
that they send a silent shiver through my frozen heart and mind
in thatwinter on the river peace was all that I could find
take this potion I have rendered from the dregs of yesterday
mix it in with things remembered that you never threw away
eat it cold or warm it gently in the sunshine of asmile
pictured on the card you sent me where we meant to rest a while
these few moments I can spare you from the times that I have here
just unfold them with great care you never know what you will hear
they may run away with laughter through the morning or the night
it's the love that they are after and they always tell it right.
