Memories

The dawn had just peeped Through the clouds The sweet tinkling of teacups With the smell of Darjeeling Tea My nose came to full alert My mind still asleep The frying of ginger In really hot oil Opened up my mind The aroma fills the house My mouth waters Hands throw the blankets Steps towards the kitchen Where the new tantalizing Sounds of table being laid And chicken being fried Years have passed And still the sound of teacups And smell of ginger Puts my mind on red alert
