Melikalikimaka
Here where I am, it is warm and sunny.
This is not a typical December scenery.
I am a long way from my home in New Jersey.
You can find me in the shade under a tall palm tree.
I am spending Christmas in the state of Hawaii.
Whether I am in Maui, Honolulu, or Hilo,
nobody will ever see a trace of snow.
Women in grass skirts with orchid leis,
dance to ukuleles, and have me almost in a craze.
Santa can ride a surfboard instead of sleighs.
So to all of you in mainland America,
I wish all of you “melikalikimaka”!
