Max's Ghost

Once in awhile I think I spy
Out of the corner of my eye,
A movement... just off to the right
But see nothing there in sight.

And sometimes I hear a sound
Like a purr. I look around.
Nothing there, naught to see
But I know what it might be.

The ghost of Max still walks here.
Sometimes I feel he is near.
A movement ... just off to the right,
Like a cat taking flight.

Out of the corner of my eye
He jumps ... and so do I,
But of course he isn't there.
Nothing is .... but the air.

We had a cat that saw ghosts. We caught him one time leaning up against nothing and purring out loud. When we entered the room he fell as if whatever he was leaning against had moved. Spooky. Mike

Dear Francine, I identified so much with this poem. It's wonderful! Congratulations on taking fourth place in the Ghosts contest. Jack and I judged blindly and there were many good entries that did not place, so those who did should feel very proud. Love, Carolyn

I know what you mean, Francine, sometimes I feel a caress on my hair, as only one person could do, and I turn and he is not there, was it the breeze, or the ghost of love~~ wonderful poem, that spoke to my heart~~

Francine, that had to be the shortest amount of time I ever had to wait for someone to comment on my latest poem! Yours is quite good too with descriptiveness and rhyming. I had a cat once that somewhat fits the description of Max.
