Heya Anaya, yeah huge discrepancies in hits on the soup, pretty much daily now, some have 500 hits without even a single comment, and only up a few hours or so? I’m probably on par with you on my most hits, The hits on this one are a farce, the first one hundred are mine, after that it’s anyone’s guess who kept tapping away, it was just a bit of fun that went a bit unsurprisingly mad! Lol! Cheers David

So, my largest # of hits is "One Mean Hombre" at 1246 then "Deception In Soup Creek" at 1195 very first poem at 1166. Titles are a big part of hits for me, lol. Loved the humor on the surfers with carpal!

Hello David, I really loved how you humorously captured the struggle for recognition in the world of poetry. The witty portrayal of seeking validation through online metrics resonates with many creators. Your use of humor to address the reality of self-promotion is both relatable and refreshing. Moreover, your acknowledgment of carpal tunnel sufferers adds a thoughtful touch, highlighting the physical toll of creative endeavors. David, what a lighthearted yet insightful piece. -Blessings, Daniel

Another comment worthy of 100 hits Daniel lol! Don’t mind me, I just have a habit of pointing out elephants in the soup, as well as in real life, yes I try add some wit, (sometimes sarcasm I admit) not to everyone’s taste, I’m delighted you see the fun side of this one, someone’s wrist must be playing up today after all the fake hits this one got, cheers David

Hi David, I’ve just tried to do that on one of my poems but hits stay the same?? When I first started using PS I tried to suss out how the ‘best’ 100 poems were decided. I stopped thinking about it when I noticed some poems around the 100 mark didn’t have any comments or hits at all. I think they must be randomly picked. In my first week here someone soup mailed me to tell me people agree to ‘fav’ each others poems too. Tbh I just enjoy the ride and having a platform to publish my stuff. Cheers - Gary

The great Christopher Flaherty once told me when I started on the soup, this place is like the voting in the Eurovision Song Contest, ratings all depend on which bloc you’re in, he was so right!

Thanks for stopping by Gary, I did indeed give this, one hundred instant hits myself, just to prove what most of us already know, hits cannot be taken at face value, a lot of manipulation goes on behind the scenes on the soup, you have the right idea enjoy the ride and publish your stuff, now the other 5 hundred + hits I’ve honestly no idea where they came from, cheers David

I do sometimes try and figure out the logic of hits. If I give something a flippant title it seems to get more hits or if it's seasonal (a Father Christmas one was popular). There are some poets with 2000+ hits and no comments and pages and pages of poems. Even an exciting comment section with returners only gets a few hundred extra hits for those returning for the drama. It's funny you sat there clicking to demonstrate your point, this could be immersive if we all join in :D

I do love a bravo haha (bizarre memory popped in my head, I actually had a boyfriend once who would quote Johnny Bravo's 'man, I'm pretty' line haha - he wasn't wrong, he was, but still... Men with muscles, what are they like!? Haha)

Oh you know me Dilly I hate elephants in the room, I’m perhaps doing a little Exposé on fake hits, I know my last POTD got hundreds of hits, but that was just because a big row was going on lol! You’re so right this could well be a blog, it was essential to give myself all those hits or this one wouldn’t have worked, pages and pages of poems with no comments is very suspect, your comment deserves a hundred hits bravo! Cheers David

Did you really hit this poem 100 times? Lol.. I was accused of this once, maybe twice... But those who know me, know I have a page where I post my poems and my followers click on the link... I think that may be the case for others also.. I hope your wrist feels better soon.. You could have also called it fingers massaging the figures.. lol

Time is indeed a big factor S1, now that narrows the culprits down to either non carpal tunnel sufferers, or people with nothing better to do!

Of course I did, it normally takes me a week to get a hundred hits, you have a far bigger fan base than me lol! in all seriousness I’ve seen some posts here getting several hundred hits and not one comment, I mean come on, everyone else must see it too, don’t mind me I’m normally on another planet, cheers David
