Masked Ball - Persephony
MASKED BALL – PERSEPHONY
Compelling now the music
In waltz time whirling round
Tinted bizarre by candle light
The countless silken gowns
Deep cherry red her costume
Yet plain as plain can be
Such was her artless beauty
The Lady Persephony
Many the knight who’d courted her
Many the ardent hero denied
But only one - years absent now -
Might claim her for his bride
Will he – returned - remember
That October night’s repose
Their special autumn moonlight
The wine, his proffered red rose?
