Mask
As coveting's exchange, and grandeur's aim
does follow course of some insane
new coveting, while a boast proclaims
its piety real, while cause not same.
But teach me God to wear Thy name
in honest truth, as only can -
and humbleness will fill me then,
a richer source, a truer yen.
And in thee, firming like Amen
holds prayer in constant faith's contend,
I settle as to grace can mend,
away from selfish apprehend.
Bar hope from cursing's interchange,
I tear away this mask's derange,
as loving Thee confront acclaim
while bidding truth, not masking, vain.
In leadership with God, trust's claim!
