Mars
All September I had Mars in my window
The reddish planet, god of war.
It says that this year
After some hundred years
Its orbit the closest is to Earth.
That is something valuable to astronomers
But not for me
Looking with my weary eyes
The same glimmering
As when I was a kid
And fretting with my friends
I told myself that stars were my true friends
I called them by name chatting with them through the nights
Telling them my childhood secrets.
Now that I’m getting older
Bored sometime with all that is around me
I’m turning again to the stars
My dear old friends
Why does something so far away
Comfort us more than the things near us
The ones we care so much about?
