Notes About The Poem

Marigolds

Sing a dirge with crowns of marigolds.
But not for me for I am much alive, my dear.
Listen to the lovely lively rain,
Pitter-patter on the thriving flower beds,
Let them grow in all hues and shapes.
I’ll pick the marigolds’ white petals.
See, I love you not, I love myself.
Next autumn I’ll fill my lovely cottage
With the most beautiful fragrant narcissus.

 just a scribble

Marigold is a lovely flower, but rated low. Flowers like Roses, Daisies and Amaryllis steal the show and you are in love with Narcissus or Daffodils ! In solitude a flash memory of Daffodils ignited the poetic vision of Wordsworth. Victor, you are another Wordsworth....

If that was just a scribble Victor it’s a mighty fine scribble. A fun write too, narcissus loved himself, same as you… Belle :-)

I liked the tongue in cheek (or so I took it to be) of ending with the narciissus flower after saying "I love myself" CUTE

Ahh!! Well, I am glad it is narcissus instead of marigolds that you will put in your cottage because those marigolds are not very pleasant in the aroma department but they help fight bugs in the garden. Thanks for dropping by..Sara

Victor, Your words' colors and patterns appealed to me. Beautiful marigolds, just for your knowledge, the marigold flower has numerous health benefits: it reduces inflammation, particularly in the eyes, and has antiseptic properties. It also repels pests. And heals skin and hemorrhoids. Loved your poem added to my fave.
