Many Moons

Echo of distant cries, quadruped steps deepening into dusk— wind folding the earth’s breath. Craftsman of the spider web, seas of lightning possessing the sky. Guardian of the other side, conceiver of comings and goings, I will meet you soon— after the waning of many moons, God-willing—I will meet you soon! Til then you will wait— til the fateful rain washes the earth, til the sky weeps every secret. You will wait as the mountain lion sleeplessly soaks up the storms to keep her last babe dry.

A waiting instinct can become a disciplined desire, as a tempered tear may moisten a motivated heart...I really like the maternal metaphor of the lioness Laura. The visuals and augered virtue of this poem are magnificent. This is a piece of poetry that I can feed on long. You prophesize heartfelt urgency while commanding righteous patience. Wonderful imagery that gives life to your oracle...J.A.B. A FAV!

Your words land like soft thunder, Justin—low and stirring, echoing in the cave of what I meant but couldn’t name.Thank you for seeing the lioness, the ache, the wait—that sacred pause where storm and love share the same sky…I think perhaps you read the silence in this poem the way a bird reads wind: not as emptiness, but as the sound of something meaningful preparing to arrive. Your reflections feed my own hunger to write what breathes beneath the visible.

You do like the headier stuff don't you lol. Those last few lines felt random but I'm sure they must fit. I'm curious who the Guardian is in your poem. I don't think it's God. Still, there seems to be a longing to be with this one after "many moons"
