Malibu Sunset
Just like a slowly rolling tide
A jet trail sails across the sky
Drifting past the shell-shaped moon
A surreal moment gone too soon
It may not be the best I’ve seen
Tinged with smoke and grenadine
But it goes down smooth, this evening sky
So raise your glass a mile high
‘Cuz it tastes like a Malibu sunset
As close to the beach as I can get
Palms and powerlines mar my view
As I lie here and drink a few
My back to the earth, on solid ground
They say you can’t fall while lying down
Well, if that is what you really think
Perhaps I’ll have just one more drink.
