Making the Cut
Few now will ever make the cut,
Few now seem to have the time,
Few now see the need,
Few now see making the cut worth the effort,
Few now see any benefit in having one to cut.
Many now are not given the chance to make the cut,
Many now see it as a waste of space to have one to cut,
Many now will never have experienced the smell of one that has been cut,
Many now see no health benefits in making the cut.
Many now will not see children play on one that has been cut.
More's the pity for them who have not cut a lawn in their life,
More's the pity for them who will not have a lawn to cut in their lifetime,
More's the pity for them who may never feel real grass under their feet,
More's the pity for them who will never smell freshly cut grass,
More's the pity for them who will never lie down on a freshly cut lawn,
and watch the clouds drift by.
