Written: October 09, 2023   Coconuts Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Over the tropical sun, where palm trees sway I'm depicting palm fronds with a lyrical portray. On a lowly fruit that cynosure nature bestows A fascinating tale spanning the coconuts it grows In this heavenly place, the sun hugs the sea. As the palm arms are at ease, waltz-free One oval and brown fruit called its home. Vast coconuts will soon be the topic of the dome. Its thick shell shielded the marvel inside. Savory nectar quenches thirst, and hearts abide. A flavor of absolute delight with every sip A choir of taste straight fresh from the lip, The coconut was still beyond just a drink. It provided shelter and an oasis to think. Its sturdy limbs may be used to build a home. A safe sanctuary in which we used to roam, Twigs swung as viridescent wings in the breeze. Whisper riddles and yore tales to whom please. They spoke of slipshod seamen who died at sea. Who drew repose and zest from a coconut tree? In a field of flaxen front, figments fatten factually. Amid all the turmoil, the nut was acting naturally. Surrounding its shell was an ether, marvelous. It's a magnum opus of health and grace, fabulous.   The heavenly and pristine coconut oil. Sooth the skin and spire to spark over spoil Every sip is laced with an extra bit of bliss. Holistic therapy is a genuine aesthetic hiss. On the lithe coast of this mellifluous paradise. Waves sigh slyly in a placid sleep sack of spice. A nut tree rose aloft as a symbol of grace. The lyrical credence of ambrosian embrace

an entertaining and informative write, dear Sotto. Yet, it is unique with your own voice and beautiful words and images. I, for one, love the taste of coconut straight from its shell as well as coconut oil. I'd forgotten that palm tree branches could be used to make a shelter. Wishing you the best with the coconut contest...I believe this one is a winner.enjoy your day, Sara

Nice poem on coconut fruit and palm tree groves. They require hot tropical or dry weather to thrive (Like Valsa's Kerala state in India).

- Creatively written about this fruit ... and its history ... would love to have some of these in my garden ... but, they don't like our climate - Best wishes in the contest, Las :) - hugs

Everything that can be expressed about the coconut palm and the coconuts it yieds is included in this fantastic poem. The palm fronds waltzing in the breeze, the globular heavy nuts they carry, the ambrosial liquid each holds, all so beautifully enumerated. You have described how we Keralites make use of every part of coconut tree and coconuts from generating oil and thatching buildings . Greatly enjoyed reading about a tree we consider very useful and is called the tree of life. All the Best.
