Notes About The Poem

Madame Claus Escapes

Old Madame Claus was thoroughly tired and bored.
Even on Christmas Eve, she was at the board.
That fat old Santa expected her to scrub floors,
So, for her best sexy dress, she searched her stores.

She went to the barn where Rudolph was sleeping
"Get out there, you lazy deer and stop weeping,
We're going for a drive, and stop simpering.
Get the sleigh, warm attire, and stop whimpering.

Rudolph followed his nose and flew to the towns.
Folks wandered through the markets, all in gowns.
All saw Rudolph and Madame Claus eating cakes.
Both drove back to the North, Rudolph full of aches.

Good for Madame Clause! She needs to get out more. And Rudolph--what can you say about a deer whose nose is always glowing? I guess maybe see a doctor?

I take it she bought no gown but gained more weight instead. Haha

Hey Victor, I absolutely love this rebellious, subversive take on the classic North Pole dynamic! It's a wonderful, cheeky statement about choosing freedom and pleasure over endless domestic duty. Autumn Blessings, Victor, Daniel

Hope both Rudolph and Madam Claus had a great ride through the market. Rudolph must have been tired, but he had to obey his mistress. Great story and beautiful rhyming.

Yes, if we are unhappy with our life's situation it can lead to eating too much and for some sweets which can lead to health problems. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Delightful! Cakes were all right. Rudolph protested deerly when she suggested a good venison steak.
