Lurking

The walls whisper secrets I don’t understand,
Shadows curl and stretch like reaching hands.
Cold fingers graze my shoulder in passing,
Eyes gleam from corners that shouldn’t exist.
Footsteps echo softly, following me closer,
And when I turn, no one is there.
