Loyal Enemies
We were once
as close as lovers
sharing things
no one knew
secrets, clues of inner worlds
our souls unfurled
Betrayal
struck so suddenly
caught us both
by surprise
narrowed eyes, reassessing
messing with our minds
Ties unwind
unravel, turn loose
sad excuse
for friendship
ripping, tearing all apart
from the heart outward
We remain
loyal enemies
more than mere
"frenemies"
for neither can afford to
rat the other out!
