Loving Light
I stare into the mesmerizing fire,
watching the flames dance in the night.
As a breeze passes by, the flames peak higher
I am caught up in the red and gold flickering light.
Whisps of smoke rise into the night sky,
then they disappear from sight.
As if they are saying goodbye.
And to prepare for the last glow of firelight.
Staring into the fire as it fades away.
Knowing that soon it will die.
Just like the light of love that couldn't stay.
And how painful was the final goodbye.
