Loving Light

I stare into the mesmerizing fire, watching the flames dance in the night. As a breeze passes by, the flames peak higher I am caught up in the red and gold flickering light. Whisps of smoke rise into the night sky, then they disappear from sight. As if they are saying goodbye. And to prepare for the last glow of firelight. Staring into the fire as it fades away. Knowing that soon it will die. Just like the light of love that couldn't stay. And how painful was the final goodbye.

Like life losing its loving light, the fire burns out and disappears into the night sky but the sun will shine in the morning, Sandy. I’ve always enjoyed your couplets but I’m glad to see you writing some quatrains as well...expanding your horizons. :) John

I love getting lost, staring at the fire.

Sandra, there are those who say, 'other sacred winds can keep the light forevermore'.
