Loving

In loving thee, thou knows I have sworn, But thou art twice sworn, to me love's affection In act thy bed affirmed failed, and new allegiance act, In vowing new aversion after new adulation attitude: But why of two oaths' cleft do I condemn you, When I break many? I am false beyond measure; For all my affirmations are oaths but to misuse thee, And all my honest assurance in thee is absent: For I have avowed ample guarantees of thy deep beneficence, Oaths of thy love, thy candor, thy aplomb; And, to awaken thee, gave eyes to comprehension, Or made them swear against the thing that they see; For I have sworn thee fair, more dishonest conclusion, To swear against the truth so atrocious a lie!
