Love's Reflections

When my aged eyes come to close at last Love's reflections will cause my soul to weep With death so near I'll hold onto the past And keep as proof of life before I sleep To let the heart's flickering faces stay A reminder of when horizon's fled Ask not the tearful eye to look away From pain so deep and worn to which I'm wed To close my eyes and sleep with yesterday With thoughts of every year in which I bled The years of restless nights till' death will stay To rest with me inside my tomb instead These shadowed ghosts which kept my heart a slave Will, sleep forever silent in my grave 1/22/21 contest Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
