Her tears resonate deep inside of him,
like the crying strings of a sad violin.
Painful revelations accompany her words,
yet unrequited love supplies the catalyst to speak further.
She's a lissome snow leopard, wild and beautiful,
unleashing the pain of a broken heart.
But she can't spin disappointment into a smile,
even though she tries her best.
Though her tears overwhelm his heart,
he is at a loss as to what to say.
His words sound surreal, but her hurt is real,
she feels pain when she once felt joy.
But she senses truth motivating his words,
compelling her to listen.
And watching the tears spill from her eyes,
he catches a glimpse of her soul.
He tries not to crush her dreams with blunt force
while rejecting the romantic notions of a naïve youth.
But her words break his heart with their impact,
for a flood of tears pools behind each one.
Under the umbrella of self-blame and regret,
fragile feelings of false love are explored and exposed.
He is the reluctant bearer of love's fickle nature,
and she finds solace in his words.
