Love Is Hard to Die

Listen to poem:
We said goodbye, but not completely, You walked away, but stayed discreetly. In empty rooms, I hear your name, A whisper caught in windowpane. The photographs have all been turned, But deep inside, the fire still burns. Love is hard to die— It lingers in the night. In every song, in every sigh, In memories we can’t deny. Though time may try to say goodbye, Somehow… love is hard to die. I tried to heal with someone new, But no one fits the shape of you. The echoes walk these halls again, A ghost that lives beneath my skin. And even when I smile out loud, I’m haunted soft beneath the shroud. Love is hard to die— It hides in quiet light. In dreams I never ask to find, It waits with arms of days behind. Though hearts may break, and tears run dry, The truth remains… love’s hard to die. You may forget, you may move on, But something here still feels you’re gone. And I still wear your yesterday Like perfume time can’t wash away. Love is hard to die— It lives though reasons lie. Through silence loud and years gone by, It aches, it breathes, it still replies. You may be gone, but so am I— In love… and love is hard to die. Yes… love is hard to die.
