Love Don'T Live Here No-More

Love don't live here no-more....

Us, living in a liar's grave.
We can't see no-more.
Once we spoke love words,
 we listen, we pay attention.
Now we are laying in a shallow grave.
Waiting for someone to be brave enough to run away.

Who is wrong? Who is right?
We don't know anymore.
Once I chased you and now two strangers.
Cold eyes and silence breathe,
don't know what to say or do.

I told the lonely night,
love don't live here no-more.
Somewhere in time,
we forgot the kindness,
we forgot what we were.

Now we share food,
now we share the whiskey and now we shared the cold bed.
And I know.

When love died,
love died badly and cannot be saved.
I know, what was done and what being done.
Just payment.

Payment for people,
wanting too little, wanting too much.

The sun is falling,
and we sit across from each other,
not knowing what to say,
what to do.

I left you on a Winter day,
old heart didn't feel the December chill.
My truck touched the Michigan border and I cried alone.

And part of me was dead and gone.

Sometimes love is a soul-sucking sad journey, lovers come and go, they say it gets easier with age, I don't know...the Dancing Coyote if he/she is out on her own in the desert, is a very heart-wrenching vision indeed. Beautiful soulful poem about loss and moving on...to find the dance, again, somehow. x

Thanks for this. Likewise, cheering you with blest Christmas spirit, and Holiday season, while sharing "... the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23 of the King James Bible). God bless you.

I feel your angst, my friend, I think so many people, especially today, are in the same situation or have been in the same situation.. This poem is full of emotions of walking away... I like how you used the sun and winter day to describe it..

John, the soul-baring poignant beauty of your poem moves me very deeply. Your poetic lines are filled with aching heartfelt expression. "My truck touched the Michigan border and I cried alone." - so evocative and emotive.. your poem shines with sad introspective emotions. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
