Love Lesson
LOVE LESSON
I give my lesson for their son.
Room plain, cracked, greyed -
Rubbed away - curtains frayed.
Good furnishing - none,
Except the big photo
Of two lovers long ago.
They have lost their charm.
She, dumpy and plainer,
Holding his old arm.
He, greying, opens doors for her.
She leans on his strong lift
And walks in to see the gift -
Flowers - rose and carnation -
A birthday surprise celebration.
“Please stay and share !”
No - this is a private affaire,
In a room near-finished
But with love furnished.
She gave me my lesson.
She’d achieved my ambition.
I, to rich curtains returning,
And no husband to miss me.
Waiting with engine running,
My shiny car outside is empty.
