It was raining the day I went to the art gallery for a visit, I was lonely and wanted to just get lost among the beautiful art; My shoes clicked on the polished floors and I begged them to be quiet, An oil and watercolour painting caught my eye and I moved closer for a better view. The information on the wall beside it said- A Red Parasol- 1895, Painted by Alfred Glendening Junior, 1861-1907, an English painter; I stood there for the longest time and it seemed that I could feel a breeze, The next thing I knew- I was within the golden frame and walking on that beach. I strolled about watching the sea from the shore, I felt the salt air, The sea was green-blue and met a cloudy sky and rocks were scattered; Mossy green and weather worn and not far two young girls were laughing, I walked towards them quietly and listened to their secret girl story of first love. One girl was sitting on a rock in a blue dress holding flowers, Wilted flowers, once lovely and another girl held a bright red parasol; She had tossed aside her pink hat that matched her pretty dress of pink, I could smell the sea and feel the hidden sun touch my pale skin, the breeze salty. It was so serene and peaceful on that rocky beach somewhere, I wanted to stay forever walking the sand and feeling the rush of waves; But suddenly, I was on the other side of the painting, a girl, a little bit gothic, A bit lonely looking at art on a rainy day- and I moved on as other people arrived. ___________________________________ June 11, 2016 Poetry/Verse/Lost Within The Frame Copyright Protected, ID 16-799-533-0 All Rights Reserved.
