Lost and Found

Lost and Found Be quiet quiet quiet Yes quiet as a mouse It's nobody else's business What goes on inside our house We like our big little secrets All disguised in pretty bows These things are just between us It is best that no one knows! The little girl she listened Held that burden of belief Pretended with eyes of happy But inside she held her grief Losing her voice to a sorrow That she wasn't allowed to show Inside a numbing awareness and no safe place where she could go She kept on being quiet Those around her thought it weird She tried so hard to form her words But her voice had disappeared She lived within the shadows until one day she made a choice No longer would she be silent She prayed "Please God give me my voice!" Some answers don't come easy But God helps us when we try Her voice started as whisper Yet on words she learned to fly Her message spoken clearly big little secrets shouldn't be kept The girl became a woman and she earned her self respect Within light thoughts are shifted She's not afraid to be seen Truthful words tell her story Others know where she has been Her voice reveals her beauty She knows freedom in her heart With us she shares her secrets As she transforms pain into art! Dedicated to the girl who lost her voice, and the woman who found it. Freyja Jensen.

This should be included in your next book. It's a very nice poem Richard. Dare I say a simple poem, with a powerful message. I've been away, but still writing. I need to get with you as I'm nearing the end of my collection which I'd like to publish in the near future. MC

Hi Richard, this is an excellent write on this theme. It is always hard for me to read such writes without being touched to tears. Along with the tears comes the anger inside. Don't get me wrong, i personally never lived in a house where secrets had to be held but stories like this deeply touch me. To me, this poem is beautiful in its sadness Richard. An excellent write from a beautiful heart. This has to be a seven and a fav Rochard. You move the heart my friend....Mike.

Hi Richard, It seems like I seen this piece before or someone simliar. I can relate to this piece very much. In some ways it's like you're telling my story. I was a young who suffered from abuse and that abuse silenced me. I was too ashamed to talk because I thought is was my fault. But one day after many years of mental and physical abuse, this little girl spoke and that was the most freeing experience ever.

I'm sorry you are familiar with this pain. I am however glad you found your voice. I wrote this piece a while ago and after rereading it I decided to do some editing.

Thanks for taking the time to read it a few times. I feel bad my time has been so short as of late. There are so many people I have not been able to keep in contact with, yourself included. Once I get moved I will have more time.

Wow! Story poems are a fave of mine and this is one I will not soon forget. Your words are deceptively playful at the beginning, then a wham of horror, culminating to beautiful words of healing and hope. A lovely redemptive piece highlighting the strength of a woman's soul and the power of faith. That "art"was her saving grace, leaves me with goosebumps so incredibly you have penned this stunning piece. Brilliant writing..a most uplifting special read. blessings, lynn

Many women remain silent. Boys are worse. What a sick world we live in. Your poem is as beautiful as your mind, Richard. Sad, but some stories need to be told. Great job.

This one is close to my heart because I grew up in an abusive home and we were all swore to secrecy. My dad also moved us every year or so to keep us isolated. Thanks for this thoughtful relation to the piece.
