A child with eyes like stars, so far away, she wonders, loud. She fears, ‘How can she be.’ Afar her thoughts, they’re deep; a shroud. Buries her head in mother’s lap. Her mother dreams in this vein. She reveals to a woman, she’s lost. Can’t find her way home. Mysterious. In the fog of sleep and disturbance, even now she knows not her child’s fear. The child’s head hurts with thoughts, distraught. Her inner mind held tight. ‘How can I be; how can I not?’ Angels give off their light - her guardians of peace and calm. This question spoken like a prayer to God, who she has not grasped. She reaches for the tangible touch of her mother’s arms, sans discernment, whilst the light-bearers smile and cheer. Questions linger but faith takes hold. She’s saved; arms raised, knees bent. A lifetime quest - this child is old. God does exist. He sent enough answers to save the lost.

Your message is so tender landing hard on the heart of this former teacher of youngsters, children of parents so "lost" in their world view. Conferences were a difficult challenge to make suggestions on their child's progress. Check your soup mail for words of hope.

Brilliant poetry Kim, I Love your faith and how somehow or other you bring God into the equation - this poem is almost mystical and definitely has a warm thread throughout for the child, that being both the mother and God, one untangible, one tangible but the girl is saved, through her reaching out with her faith to the untangible, God. Well penned my friend. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

This is a powerful and moving poem, dear Kim. I have no real words to describe it. Wow. You surely bleed with this. I love where this leads - to God. I am so happy you rest in His arms.

Neither here nor there, but I just had a thought - Mother and God must be the two greatest sources of comfort.

I feel for this child, now old, and glad she is no longer lost and fearful. It's not a good state for any child, whatever age!

"He sent enough answers to save the lost" That is really soul stirring and evocative dear Kim! Love how you've written this poem in a deeply profound manner, reflecting the storms swirling in the child's mind and how fragile her heart can become with those overwhelming thoughts that sometimes seem to question the very essence of life. Angels do guard the souls of the children, as they are pure and serene and also, we ourselves are forever shielded by the inner light within, as the inner child never dies. Brilliantly done for the contest, sending you many best wishes and light always ~
