A child with eyes like stars, so far
away, she wonders, loud.
She fears, ‘How can she be.’ Afar
her thoughts, they’re deep; a shroud.
Buries her head in mother’s lap.
Her mother dreams in this vein.
She reveals to a woman, she’s lost.
Can’t find her way home. Mysterious.
In the fog of sleep and disturbance,
even now she knows not her child’s fear.
The child’s head hurts with thoughts, distraught.
Her inner mind held tight.
‘How can I be; how can I not?’
Angels give off their light -
her guardians of peace and calm.
This question spoken like a prayer
to God, who she has not grasped.
She reaches for the tangible touch
of her mother’s arms, sans discernment,
whilst the light-bearers smile and cheer.
Questions linger but faith takes hold.
She’s saved; arms raised, knees bent.
A lifetime quest - this child is old.
God does exist. He sent
enough answers to save the lost.
