Losing Someone

He spoke of times,
that are no more.
Of one long passed,
who was his core.
Who one time claimed,
his inner heart.
But time’s faint whisper,
forced them apart.
Helplessly he observed,
the finality of death.
Hearing his name called,
with her final breath.
