Looking Back

Having lunch on the veranda just now, My mind as usual flicks back to the past, I thought of my wife and WOW! My family all said that it wouldn't last, We are still one, nearly 50 years have passed. Half a century ! Now that's a long time, We have seen folks come and seen them go, There has been times when we have screamed, At each other because we dared to have dreamed. We can't do that, so why do you bother to say, that the day will come when the sun will shine, And those dreams will come true, yours and mine. We started with nought, at times we fought, We built up our home, where to children we brought. Our house became a home, our own little castle, It wasn't easy, we endured so much hassle. Now we have entered the final straight, Far behind us is our starting gate. The finish line is ahead at our journeys end. To God our Father our knees must bend. For without His love, grace and favour. Our victory cry we would never savour. Thank you Lord for leading us through, We are yours, our hearts are true. © Dave Timperley May 2018
