Look What I Found

A few years back, one day, while planting trees My shovel hit a little metal box I instantly dropped to my hands and knees Removing the surrounding dirt and rocks I noticed right away it had two locks It looked to have a filigree design I smiled as though I'd dug into Ft Knox Adrenaline had me up on cloud nine With garden hose, I washed away the grime Then shined it gently with my old t-shirt I jimmied both the locks in record time And what a treasure mixed in with the dirt My heart was thumping in childlike elation I'd rediscovered my imagination. by Daniel Turner

Yes it was. My imagination was running wild thinking of all the things i could do with a little extra money but it wasn't to be. However, it made me as giddy as a school girl and the thrill alone was worth it. Great to see you old friend. Be well.

Was it old coins?! Must be looking nice all polished again - enjoyed your sonnet cos it did bring back that thrill of discovery and reminded me how we felt finding a larger box hidden in the Oregon backyard woods; so while we were opening it, we went thru scenarios as to who put it there and why etc...turned out it was one of the brothers who was hiding one of his rifles out there but he had to describe exactly how he hid it to the younger bro who had found it lol

Other than dirt there was nothing in the box, however just digging it up had my imagination running wild. It was just a child's jewelry box but it sure was fun! Thank you for reading and commenting Susan. Hoping you and yours are well.
