Look Ahead

When breathless pain of sorrow Steals the joys of each tomorrow Look ahead. Echoes peeling...of life or dying What hope then? It's mystifying Life's pain sometimes is crucifying... Remember then, Christ's rectifying Look ahead. God and Father, Of the living Not the dead His home is filled with life, All sorrows shed The flesh grows old But I've been told The Spirit's flight to paths of Gold Leads to a Home where they behold The Father's Wonderous Place And our Savior full of Grace Way 'cross the slough of deep despond There is a joyous land beyond Where life is real Gone tears and dread Where only words of love are said ----> Ahead When the spirit fly's away Upon that set appointed day And Earthbound hearts feel ripped and shred Of course it's hard to Look ahead That empty chair.... it isn't fair Grey the day with deep despair Now....Focus... Heaven's 'Stead Appears Ahead When breathless pain of sorrow Steals the joys of each tomorrow In life's pain or sorrows dread Depetaled rose....thorns for a bed Christ wore that crown upon His head And for His own, His paths have lead So that we Sisters and Brothers Look ahead. Hebrews 12:2 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. KJV John 14:1-4 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. KJV Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is [a]loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well. 7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it. Your deep faith in God and His ceaseless mercy, you have powerfully proclaimed aloud through this poem. I love Poetry Soup more because most of the poets here are staunch believers of God. For the same reason, their poems are inspirational and based on the lasting values of life. As I grow old, I feel more and more that true joy can come only from God. Thanks for sharing your great thoughts. Lovely poem BJ

An amazing write BJ! It is true we should try to focus on what is ahead instead of the past. Though it can be hard sometimes I always remember this verse to help me keep going Jeremiah 29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Keep writing dear friend and stay safe. God bless you!
