Little Stomach of Horrors
Just wanting to lose some winter time size 12 blues
and come down one size, maybe two
is hard to do when one gets older
my "Audrey" stomach growing defensively bolder,
Saying "feed me, feed me" as I pass by the grocery store
stopping to shop "Audrey" starts to annoy me even more
growling like a fierce lioness defending ones cubs
I hold my stomach as if to smother and give it a nudge,
The women shoppers around me can relate and nod
knowing that its swimwear season like were peas in a pod
whereas going down the cookie aisle is like being in a gauntlet
the oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies reach out as if to taunt us,
With "Audrey" becoming embarrassingly loud and brazen
I spy a little sample booth which is a heavenly haven
as I gulp the sample down as least for now "Audrey" is slightly satisfied
until homeward bound pass by all the fast food places on my drive...
