Listened To Me

I needed someone to talk with A person that understood what I was saying The one who wouldn’t judge me The person that remained quiet while I spoke All I wanted was for somebody that listened to me Once was afraid to voice my opinions However, courage in my beliefs is what I achieved I stand proud now it’s as if my words even speak Made me a teacher through my talent When everyone was too busy you sat and listened to me Became the lending ears that I needed at times I’ve grown to depend on you being there I was allowed to say whatever I like Whether I’m wrong or right you didn’t mind Yelled at top of my lungs, still you listened to me Not in the form of a man nor woman Just ink I wrote on a line made me a creator I write at my own free will, without anyone to stop me Humbly I now watch my nouns and verbs spill onto paper Became closer than best friends could be See, when no one else did my pen and paper still listened to me

Exactly the way I feel, Richard. When there is no one to listen, the words pour forth onto paper and it does bring great satisfaction, doesn't it? Many writers will relate to this message. And I must say, it was your name that prompted me to read your poetry. Was a big fan of The Fugitive's Dr. Richard Kimble. But I'm so glad I saw this awesome poem today. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes, Carolyn
