Lily Petal
Lily-petal was the quintessential female ringmaster
She commanded her animals to be super phenomenal
They did not let her down
Her monkeys would run around the circus stealing caps
The children would laugh and howl at their father’s expressions
Whether the caps were returned, I never knew
Lions, tigers and bears followed Lily-petal’s lead
They would do summersaults, high kicks, jump through burning hoops
Maybe not the bear, but the tigers and lions would.
Everyone at the circus did what Lily-Petal asked.
Because she was delightful and fun
And we were in love with her
