Like Way Whippoorwil
Like Way Whippoorwill
Like way whippoorwill whips out his sound
Can hear them at night from all around
Is a pronounced song that is very distinct
My main hope is it won't become extinct.
Eats bugs, flies and an occasional insect
And whatever else they happen to select
That they looking for and trying to seek
With their sharp yet blunt-nosed beak.
Never are seen and only have been heard
Similar to an owl and very unusual bird
Who is wise when we realize he refused
To be found, mis-handled or mis-used.
To hear him again all of us can hardly wait
Even if it is at night early or may be late
Around in the night will flutter and flitter
Best of all he never needs a babysitter.
